Backbone development and IPv6
Backbone extension and IPv6 in operation
Work on the development and standardisation of our entire backbone, which commenced last year, is now complete. We have made our Plus-line networks even more efficient, more stable and faster for you. To this end, we now use large, high performance switching platforms of the type Cisco Catalyst 6500 and IP/MPLS routers of the type Cisco 7600 in all our locations, all with WS-SUP720-3BXL Supervisor engines. This enables us to achieve a data throughput of 10 Gbit/s from node to node, and makes sure we are well prepared for the growing requirements of the future. The standardisation of our network and high performance hardware means that we are now able to offer you further MPLS products in the future. Ethernet connections, for instance, which hitherto have only been realised via the classic SDH network, can now be switched directly to the MPLS network. Furthermore, the complete Plus.line network is now ready for parallel operation with IPv6. Our network has a ring structure, and IPv6 is already in operation in the middle ring. We will implement national IPv6 availability in the next stage.
Of course, a development of our infrastructure such as this represents a significant investment. Despite the current economic crisis, this has not been a problem for us. Plus.line is based on extremely firm financial foundations. Because we focus on the quality and continuity of our services, we continue to be successful and to meet our customers’ requirements. Satisfying our customers on a daily basis, knowing their future requirements and being prepared for them: that has been Plus.line’s recipe for success from the beginning.
